This past June I was extremely fortunate to be able to go on this amazing trip with my fellow youth advisor Austin Reed, from Burnett County, to the 2014 International Snowmobile Congress (ISC) in Keystone, Colorado. The trip went great, and we were busy all the time learning a ton of new things about snowmobiling. Every morning we woke up and went to the daily general session, and watched the morning news, a very cheesy video of the previous day’s highlights. Brett Rasmussen, a factory pro-rider for Ski-Doo, was the master of ceremonies, and was a friendly face every morning. Thursday was busy with a full slate of seminars to participate in. One of the sessions was a panel of pro snowmobile riders from out west, which included Brett Rasmussen, Matt Entz, and Emily Moreshed. It was extremely interesting listening to these great riders and asking them questions about their machines, the technology of today, the future and, of course, how they became pro riders. Another session was about the Polaris Rider X app, a helpful snowmobile trail GPS application for your phone or PC. The Rider X team was there to explain the improvements they have made to the app over the season and how it is going to evolve into the future. It was very exciting to hear all about this app and I cannot wait to try it out myself next winter riding the trails! The last session that really caught my eye was the Mountain Skillz presentation by Matt Entz. It was very interesting and a little bit different from the other sessions because there was a snowmobile in the room with Matt, which he used to show us riding techniques they use out west. His sled was insane! It had every bell and whistle you could imagine, and it really showed how personal you can make a sled. Over all I had an amazing time out in Colorado! I want to thank KAOS for sending us there to represent the AWSC youth! Austin, Chelsie Popp and I received an award during the awards banquet for representing the KAOS group. It was an amazing time and I will always remember this incredible trip!
