with the 2015-16 season. A decision will be made at the November 1 meeting. Prior to the presentations Cathy announced that she would be retiring at the end of this publishing season, March 2015, after nearly 30 years working with the organization. A new associate editor has been selected and Cathy will be mentoring her for the next year. Legislative: Meetings have been held with the DNR to review the new Trail Pass. An adjustment to the Antique Bill is desired reflecting a change from 30 to 35 years old for vintage registration; it is hoped the DNR can do so through the budget process. The Vintage committee and the AWSC board voted to support that proposal. Trails: The supplemental deadline was Aug. 1; the Snowmobile Recreation Council (SRC) meeting is Aug. 17-18; supplemental claim and available project money should be known at that time. It is likely to be short on the supplemental side. Registrations and outof-state trail passes were up so that should help. Multi-Use Trails: The AWSC will send a letter to the DNR recommending the opening of the Blue Mound State Park snowmobile trail, with a copy of the letter to be hand-delivered to the State Trails Council and the SRC. A letter will also be sent to the DNR recommending the Good Neighbor Trail Master Plan be put into the Driftless Plan. Environmental: The Winter Wildlands Alliance lawsuit resulted in the requirement of Forest Service to include snowmobiles in their Travel Management Plan, now subpart C, with a comment period that ended Aug. 4. ACSA and BlueRibbon Coalition have been involved in its review. By-Laws: There is currently nothing in the by-laws stipulating what happens to AWSC assets if the organization were to dissolve; they should have something prepared for a vote at Convention. They are also working on a mission statement/vision with hopes of having it prepared by Workshop. A guideline also needs to be written to designate how Legal Action Funds are used. Snowflake Pageant: They are working on sponsorships for this year’s pageant; notify them if you know of a company who may be interested. Encourage your young women to participate. Membership: As of June 30, membership is up 1,981 over last year. Clubs should get the yellow “Join a Club” posters out in as many highly visible locations as possible. Youth: The three youth at ISC did an outstanding job, very active and involved. Woody’s would like to work with the youth. After AWSC Youth traveled to Nova Scotia this winter, Nova Scotia is now trying to raise funds to send one or two of their youth to our Workshop. A Toy Drive will be held at Workshop with new toys only; spread the word. Safety & Education: Clubs are encouraged to use social media to publicize upcoming classes; get classes publicized early and anywhere possible. Promotions/Publicity: They are looking at options for tents to use at events and a new clothing vendor is being looked into. Audit: The committee reviewed ledgers for March, April and May; everything balanced. They also discussed anticipated future costs to ensure the organization is financially sound. Insurance: A complaint against American Income Life was filed with the Executive Board due to questionable methods of salesmanship. The Board met with an AIL rep. Members do not have to send anything to AIL unless the member wants additional information/coverage. Fundraising: The AWSC will continue holding the Club Only Raffle, with directors and reps taking the tickets back to the clubs; no tickets will be mailed. There will no longer be a Club Assistance Raffle. New fundraising ideas are being sought.
