Prior Lake Snowmobile Association Sw ap Meet September 14 in Prior Lake The club has hosted this event off and on for more than 30 years, and it attracts some big names. The swap usually has a wide variety of motorsports-related items. Items of local interest include safety training information and a groomer display. Proceeds from this event support club activities and landowner appreciation gifts. Spectate: Admission is free. In 2012, there were about 75 vendors. Navigate: The Snodeo event takes place at the Crow Wing County Fairgrounds south of town; the watercross takes place at BIR north of town. The two locations are 10 miles apart. 19th Great Southern Grass Drag Nationals, Sw ap Meet & Vintage Show September 22 in Douglas Rain or shine, the show goes on at the Great Southern Grass Drags, hosted by the Byron Snow Bears. This one-day event has it all: big names, pro racing, a swap meet and a vintage show. It’s the largest such event in Southeastern Minnesota and attracts as many as 4,000 people. The club will draw its raffle winners at the event, with a 2014 Ski-Doo MX Z 600 as the grand prize. Tickets are $20 each. Spectate: The gates open at 7 a.m.; racing action starts at 10. There is an entrance fee and it allows access to the swap, vendors and races. Participate: Current-model drags are run under the NSRA sanctioning body ( See the event website for vintage rules. Negotiate: In 2012, this event had 350 swappers. Gates open at 7 a.m. for swapper setup. Registration is on-site and cost is based on vehicle size. Navigate: Five miles north of Rochester on 75th St NW, and west of Highway 52. 11th Annual Brainerd Snodeos Grass Drags & Sw ap Meet and IW W A atercross Race September 14-15 in Brainerd, This is a snowmobiler’s two-for-one weekend: two events, one town. Proceeds go to club projects. The Brainerd Snodeos will hold its annual drag and swap on Saturday. At the same time, the International Watercross Association (IWA) will host a two-day watercross event. Spectate: Admission is $5 to attend the Snodeos event, and gates are open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. There is a $15 daily charge to watch watercross. Camping is available at either location. Participate: Snodeos prides itself in its “no dust” track. Contact the respective organizations for race information. Negotiate: Snodeos swap spreads out over two acres. Swap gates open at 7 a.m. and the cost for swap space depends on the vehicle. 15th Annual River City Snow Riders Sw ap Meet October 5 in Elk River The River City Snow Riders Snowmobile Club, based in Elk River, use this event as a fundraiser for trail maintenance in the Sherburne County Snowmobile Trail Association system. Expect to see displays and swappers selling motorsports items of all sorts. In addition, there will be a raffle drawing in the afternoon — the grand prize is $2,000 cash. Negotiate: The swap meet fills up the fairgrounds. General admission to the event is $5, and the gates are open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The price to set up in the swap depends on vehicle size, and starts at $20. The gate for swappers opens at 6:30 a.m. Navigate: The swap takes place at the Sherburne County Fairgrounds, on the west side of Elk River, south of Highway 10 by the BP station.
