Bigfork, Montana (September 22, 2016) ‐ Trail Treker LLC, has launched a new digital mapping application for mobile smartphone users aimed at snowmobile/X‐country ski/offroad clubs and municipalities that maintain trail systems. Once loaded, the end‐users can use the maps with their GPS‐enabled smartphone without the need for
mobile phone coverage.
Trail Treker allows any club or municipality to subscribe and upload their map(s) that can then be accessed by end‐users of the Trail Treker app. Trail Treker takes the map (usually a digital image or PDF), transforms it into a tiled GPS‐registered map and makes the map available within their app which is available for Apple and Android smartphones ($2 one‐time download fee).
Clubs receive a code which makes their map free for all club members; visitors wanting the map can download each map for $2 of which the club receives a portion of that fee. Clubs can also sell location points of interest to local businesses which can offer special deals/coupons to users of the app. This offers a new source of revenue for clubs and works side‐by‐side with existing printed maps.
The app also allows users to store their own trails and points of interest for future use as well as track distance traveled and average speed. Clubs or rental companies can load specific map details such as closed trails, emergency services, or even notate trails only for advanced riders. Trail Treker allows clubs and municipalities to offer safer and more enjoyable use of local trail systems. More information can be found on the company’s website: www.trail‐treker.com.
