It’s almost time for the green flag to fly again at the Wausau 525 Snowmobile Championship Race on January 24-25!
Tickets for the Wausau 525 Snowmobile Championship will be available at the main ticket gate for $15/day or $25/weekend. Racing action includes modern and vintage sleds, as well as rounds four and five of the TLR Cup.
This year, our fans will notice a few updates that our busy, dedicated group of volunteers have done to the facility. The biggest update is the 44’x80′ heated addition that was added to the exhibition building. This was done so we will be able to move our outdoor vendors indoors and create extra space for all the spectators to warm up and enjoy food and drinks from our kitchen and bar.
Another nice, new feature for the spectators is the terracing of the spectator hill in front of the exhibition building. Now, spectators will be able to view the racing while standing on a flat surface as opposed to the sloped hill. We also have moved our heated bathroom facility to the area between the exhibition building and the pits. This was done to allow the drivers better access to the bathrooms, remove the obstruction from viewing the kitty kat track, and to prepare for future plans to create a building addition to have an entrance to the bathrooms from the exhibition building.
The Wausau 525 Snowmobile Championship is a race that is held in the memory of Philip “Flip” Merwin who was killed in a snowmobile accident in 2003. The race is non-profit and is put on by a great board of directors and many, many generous volunteers. The funds that are raised go into Flip’s Fund, a licensed charity that supports local families with critically ill children, high school scholarships, Circle of Friends, Locks of Love, the Boy Scouts, and other like minded organizations. To date we have received over $180,000.00 for Flip’s Fund. Our goal is to have a total fund input of $525,000.00 by 2020.
