Tucker Hibbert Nominated for 2014 ESPY Award

June 26, 2014 – The world’s leading snowmobile snocross racer, Tucker Hibbert, received his second ESPY (Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly) Award nomination in the Best Male Action Sports Athlete category. Hibbert hopes to become the first snowmobiler in history to win the prestigious award.
In his 14th year as a pro, he recorded his most successful season-to-date. In January, he eclipsed legend Blair Morgan’s long-standing snocross pro national win record to become the most-winning racer in the sport. Later that month, he became the first athlete in history to win seven consecutive gold medals at X Games Aspen. He now holds 95 pro national victories, two World Championships, eight National Championships and 12 X Games medals.
Alongside Hibbert, surfer Grant Baker, skateboarder Nyjah Huston, Supercross champion Ryan Villopoto and Olympic free skier David Wise were selected by a panel of judges for their standout performances in the action sports category. Through online and mobile voting, fans will decide who will take home the ESPY award. The winner will be announced live on ESPN Wednesday, July 16.

“I didn’t see this coming but couldn’t be more excited. To step back and think about how many talented action sports athletes there are worldwide, then realize that you’re one of five selected for this award is incredible. When I was first nominated in 2011, I didn’t fully understand the scope of the honor. Now, I get it. It’d be a huge honor to be the first snowmobile athlete to win an ESPY. My fans already stepped up and voted me 2014 ISOC Fan Favorite Rider. Now, I hope they can help me take home the ESPY!”

Carlson Back in the Saddle and Back on the Podium

Elk River, Minnesota (June 23, 2014) – Holeshots, turn one tangles, marbled berms, heavy roost, and finish line podiums…it sounds like another perfect race weekend, and for Carlson Motorsports professional snocross driver Andrew Carlson, it was. With last winter’s amazing podium streak in the rear view mirror, Carlson is intensely focused on the snocross season ahead, and in preparation, Andrew has been honing his entire skill set.

Off the track, a dedicated workout and nutrition regiment has Andrew on pace to be one of the most physically prepared athletes when the season commences in Duluth, Minnesota. Complimenting the program is a summer season filled with on track, side-by-side competition to keep both the competitive fire lit, and the mind sharp.

With a win on his home track during the kick-off to the ERX Motor Park Beatercross series in early June, and a first and second place finish at The Off-Road Championship (TORC) series side-by-side class in Bark River Michigan; Carlson has picked up where he left off last winter…atop the podium.

“So much of snocross (racing) is mental…that’s what so much of this (side-by-side) racing focuses on,” said Carlson. “It’s not making mistakes, it’s not getting pressured and reacting to other people. It’s you and the track. All you can control is how fast you race the track.”

The Bark River TORQ event was the first one to include a side-by-side class, but according the Carlson, it will become a regular feature going forward.

“It was my kind of track…it was fast with lots of lead changes and strategy. It’s a great way to stay sharp for snocross.”

With a taste for the TORQ series, Carlson plans to campaign his AMSOIL Polaris RZR at as many upcoming events as time will allow. Despite a rigorous training schedule and considerable time commitments as he pursues his business management degree, Andrew’s plate if full but his thoughts are never far from the race track.

“I can’t imagine what I’d be doing it I wasn’t racing on the weekends…I’d be bored out of my mind.”

Andrew will return to the track on Thursday, June 26, for round two action at ERX Motor Park in Elk River. Then it’s on to Crandon, Wisconsin for the TORQ series Big House Brawl. You can stay abreast of all the happenings at Carlson Motorsports through their website or follow them on Facebook. You can also follow Andrew Carlson via Twitter @151Carlson.

Different season, different buggy…same results, another podium.

Warnert Racing is pleased to announce the signing of two-time Swedish Pro Lite Champion John Stenberg. The 25 year-old Stenberg, of Lofsdalen, Sweden will be joining countryman Johan Lidman on the team while making his debut in the Pro Open class in 2014-15.

Stenberg finished 7th in the Pro Lite class in 2012 and was Ski-Doo’s top rider in the division last season when he finished 8th, collecting two podiums and a number of top five finishes while racing for Team Bauerly.

“I am super excited for the season,” said Stenberg. I have been in contact with Warnert Team Manager, Ryan Duncan, every since he worked for Bauerlys and I have raced against Johan Lidman since we were  both in Juniors. It means a lot to be able to race with him, to practice with him and just hang out. We live a long ways from each other in Sweden but we just talked the other day and are going to get together and train this summer.”

The addition was also a welcomed move for Lidman. “I’m excited to have John on the team with me for the upcoming season to compete in the Pro Open class,” said Lidman. It’s cool that he is Swedish, of course, and we know each other from before. He is a good rider and deserves a shot in the Pro Open ranks. It will also be beneficial to have another guy on the same equipment on the team to be able to fine-tune and come up with better settings throughout the year. Im looking forward to get 2014-15 started.”

Lidman, who was in the midst of his best season ever in the U.S. before shattering his kneecap in Fargo, North Dakota, is well on his way to complete recovery after surgery in March and has been ramping up his his rehab program in recent weeks.
