TEAM ARCTIC’S DEPTH SHOWS WITH 23-WIN WEEKEND IN TERRAIN COMPETITION

Snocross and Cross-Country Racers Storm Through Michigan, Minnesota and Alaska

Team Arctic terrain racers showed their mettle and strength during a dramatic week that saw 23 victories and gutsy performances aboard the Arctic Cat ZR 6000R ProCross and Sno Pro snowmobiles.

The season-long onslaught continued at the USXC cross-country race at the two-day, combined-points event in Park Rapids, Minn., where Team Arctic racers notched 16 class wins, including a full sweep of the podium in seven classes. Christian Bros. Racing pro Zach Herfindahl led the charge with a win in the Pro Open and then shrugged off a broken thumb suffered in the Pro Stock class during the first day to finish second overall for the weekend and retain his championship point’s lead.

Proving the depth of Team Arctic’s cross-country contingent, 16 different racers scored a win in Park Rapids, including Cole Nymann who led a team sweep of the Semi Pro 600 stock class.

Similar success highlighted the ISOC national snocross in Mt. Pleasant, Mich., where Team Arctic racers recorded seven class wins. Tucker Hibbert continued his historic run in the Pro Open class, sweeping another weekend of competition. He was joined on the podium by factory Team Arctic pro Cody Thomsen, who scored a second and fourth during the two rounds. Logan Christian also scored a pair of fifth place finishes on the weekend, putting three Arctic Cat riders in the top-5 of the premier class.

Trent Wittwer and Carson Alread joined Hibbert with double-victories at Mt. Pleasant, with Wittwer sweeping the Junior classes and Alread leading podium sweeps in the Jr. Novice and Transition classes.

Five Team Arctic teams contested and finished the brutal 2,000-mile Iron Dog in Alaska, where low snow conditions and tough luck challenged the two-person teams and their chance for overall victory. A spectator’s errant move onto the course caused a tough first-day crash for Pro contenders Brian Dick and Eric Quam. They rebounded to salvage a fifth place finish while the Christian Bros. Racing team of Ryan Simons and Cory Davis soldiered to a ninth-place finish following a broken track midway through the grueling event.

“We’re extremely proud of all the Team Arctic racers, crews and teams, and we’re thrilled with all the wins and top finishes this past week,” said Mike Kloety, Team Arctic Race Manager.

The next USXC event is March 1 in Warroad, MN, with an ISOC national March 7-8 in Fargo, ND.
