Hibbert Extends Points Lead with a Win at Friday’s Ram Truck National

Hibbert-FargoAction_©JohnHansonMarch 11, 2013 – Monster Energy/Arctic Cat’s Tucker Hibbert continued his stellar snocross season at his home race in Glyndon, Minn. by sweeping Friday night’s event and rallying from the back of the pack Saturday to finish fifth. The Ram Truck National at Buffalo River Race Park (BRRP) featured a tight “L” shaped, 30-second track. Despite Hibbert’s wild weekend, he extended his lead in the ISOC Pro Open Championship and now holds a 77-point lead over second place.Hibbert had solid starts Friday winning both his qualifiers and the final by a whopping 21 seconds. He kicked-off Saturday morning with a 55-mile trail ride on his Arctic Cat F800 Race Replica snowmobile from his home to BRRP. He went on to turn the fastest lap in practice and go 1-3 in qualifying. He was fourth off the line in the 15-rider final and on lap one of 18, the leaders came together in the tight turns of the back section of the track, causing Hibbert to hit a stalled Logan Christian. Then, Hibbert was tagged from behind and flipped on his side. He picked himself up and re-entered the track in 14th place. By searching new lines, he put on an impressive charge through the field and blitzed his way up to fifth before the checkers flew. The ISOC Pro Open Champion will be crowned this weekend in Lake Geneva, Wisc. With Hibbert’s 77-point lead, he can secure the title Friday night. Pro Open racing takes place both Friday and Saturday at Grand Geneva Resort’s ski hill from 7 to 10:30 p.m.

Tucker Hibbert – #68 Monster Energy/Arctic Cat

Hibbert-FargoPodium_©JohnHanson“I’ve been on the road a lot lately so it was a great feeling racing so close to home. I took advantage of it and rode the trails to the track on Saturday morning with one of my friends. It was about 55 miles through the woods and ditches. In all my years racing, I’ve never done that. It was a blast.

Friday was awesome. Winning both qualifiers and the main event was the goal and we (the team) were able to do that. Saturday was a little up and down. The back section of the track was super tight and one lined. In the final, we (the riders) were all crammed up on the first lap. The leaders got together in that tight section and stalled everyone up. I ended up hitting Logan then got hit from behind and tipped over. I struggled to get back on the track and get going again. I put my head down, found some good lines and was able to move through the pack. Overall I felt strong and fast all weekend so I’m happy with the results.

Going into the last race with a big points lead takes a lot of stress off the weekend. Lake Geneva hasn’t been my strongest event in the past so I’m looking for those wins and to finish the season out strong.
