ATV Association of Minnesota (ATVAM) clubs participating in the DNR’s Trail Ambassador program qualify to be reimbursed under their DNR grant for expenses related to their TA rides, as well as club expenses for ATV safety education.
In recent years, the Central Lakes ATV Club has added to its list of reimbursable expenses some monetary donations to the Coalition of Recreational Trail Users (CRTU). CRTU is made up of three directors each from Minnesota’s state associations: ATVAM, MNUSA (snowmobiles), ARMCA (dirt bikes) and MN4WDA (trucks). Its focus is OHV safety education, which includes bringing its OHV Safety Education Trailer to events such as Trail Ambassador meetings, motorcycle races, the Minnesota State Fair and the Youth Expo.
In 2012, Central Lakes made a $500 donation to CRTU. The CRTU directors want to shout out a big “Thank You!” to all the members of the Central Lakes ATV Club for their generous donation toward CRTU’s educational efforts.
If your club is looking for new ways to promote ATV Safety related to your DNR Trail Ambassador grant, please keep CRTU in mind. Your donation is a DNR “reimbursable expense.” For additional information on CRTU, contact Dave Kryzer (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Dave Halsey (email@example.com).
